Information and data collected by WSI

We do not collect personally identifiable information (PII) from individuals unless they voluntarily provide it to WSI or its contractors. You do not have to provide any information to us to visit our website. PII may be collected if someone asks to receive any WSI materials, including the RHS-15 via JOT forms or asks and agrees to be on our mailing list or donates to us.

Our web server automatically recognizes your device information when you visit our website, such as browser type, operating system, your device’s IP address; the length of time you visit our website; and the referring URL. Our server also recognizes sites and/or webpages that referred you to our website. WSI does not overtly utilize any of this automatic recognizable data as of May 9, 2022. If we begin to do so, we will change this part of this privacy policy.

We may share the voluntarily provided personal information to conduct our business of mutual interest, such as to:

Contracted Providers, such as contractors who perform services for war survivors; contractors and vendors who conduct functions on our behalf, such as hosting our website and processing payments. Such providers are beholden to their privacy policies. Any providers who contract with WSI sign a release to be confidential with PII at risk of financial penalty.

Other Not-for-Profit Organizations. We may disclose relevant information that we collect with other not-for-profit organizations with whom we conduct business such as grant funded projects.

We may also share information if:

We need to in order to comply with the law, such as respond to a court order, a judicial proceeding, or other legal process.

We believe it is necessary to take action regarding illegal activities, such as investigate fraud or suspected fraud, look into situations involving potential threats to the safety of any person, discover any possible violations of our Terms and Conditions or this Policy, or discover evidence about litigation we might be involved in.

We materially alter our financial and organizational status, such as sell to or are merged with another organization, if all of our assets are transferred to another organization, or we have a bankruptcy proceeding.

We share aggregate or de-identified information with other entities for marketing, advertising, research or similar purposes.

Protection of your voluntarily provided information

We have security measures to protect the information we hold from unauthorized access, disclosure, misuse or alteration, and loss or destruction. We use encryption designed to secure the use of sensitive user information, including credit card information. This method, coupled with using known and secure third-party payors reflects high industry standard security protocol, which makes it difficult for anyone to intercept your credit card information. Furthermore, we do not store credit card numbers on our computers or servers. Instead, WSI utilizes a third-party payor and collector who uses reference tokens to process current and future transactions. WSI staff cannot access your credit card information at any time. Despite these ongoing security efforts, no data security measures are guaranteed to be free from risk.
